In order to give the young talent an extra boost the provincial development society of West Flanders decided to open the ‘atelier for creative starters’ in Kortrijk, Bruges and Ostend.
This work area needs to be open and aims to be both stimulating and young as professional and modular. As product designers we decided to re-design the most important pieces of furniture in the open plan office setting. The design consist of i-beams to create both seating elements, acoustic walls, blackboards, racks and tables.
To maintain the modularity and usability, we opted for aluminum beams that can be assembled in a Meccano way. The fittings in stainless steel are used as connectors, as standing supports and as a positioning point. All furniture is finished with rubberwood timber to give the overall look and fresh and modern feel.
