elevenfeet: concept and product design

We hope you have enjoyed 2012 as much as we did. The year has gone by without a hitch and humans still roam this earth.

For 2013 we wish you a brand spanking new Cadillac, all the pie you can eat, good times, great neighbors, a wonderful wrist watch and your very own light house.  May it be an illuminating and creative year full of surprises and great ideas.

Innowiz in a box is a creative event organized by Industrial Design Center. It is a half day event consisting out of 6 workshops all focused on creativity. The hands-on workshops will bring some of Europe’s best design methodologies to Kortrijk.

We are in charge of the Innowiz workshop. We will show you how to use the newest tools we have been working on for the past 6 months.  Accompanied by a presentation and a fictive assignment we will teach you how to successfully use these tools and how to turn your ideas into tangible solutions.

During the 2012 edition of the biennale Interior fair you will be able to visit our latest portfolio piece. After you have attended the fair you can take a shuttle to the Buda island in the center of Kortrijk.

Visit Budascoop, the local movie theater and take a peek at the different short movies they will be playing. In doing so you will be one of the  first to take a seat in our movie theater. More info and pictures of the project here.

At the fair itself design students will be using one of the first Innowiz tools we created in collaboration with the Industrial Design Center.

‘Vissen in de Leie! 2 generaties over Kortrijk’ is a book written by Thalisa Devos and Frank Buyse that puts the city of Kortrijk in the picture. It focuses on the new vibe that the city has received over the last years. The book consists of interviews, letters and portraits of Kortrijk people and businesses both established ones and young talents. Design is one of the eight categories bespoken in the book. Elevenfeet was picked as the young talent. The interview describes our connection with the city and our thoughts on the way it was, is and should be. You can find it in local book stores.

During the weekend of the 15th and 16th of September the citizens of Kortrijk will be able to attend the opening of the Budafabriek. The Budafabriek is a society for citizens, entrepreneurs, artists, students, researchers and designers. The building will have many different areas; one of which will house a fabrication lab conveniently called Budalab.

This place will offer all the tools a handyman can dream of and will be open to the general public for use. Throughout the weekend elevenfeet, 5am and Fordesign are responsible for the Budalab kick-off activity.

Come join us and grab the unique opportunity to be the first Budalab users.  We conceptualized a fascinating two day workshop pimping your old appliances using all available tools. You learn through hands-on workshops the tricks of the design trade. elevenfeet, 5am and Fordesign will bring you in contact with laser cutting and 3D printing,  transforming your old and useless devices a perceptive object.

Week of Design is our annual chance to showcase ourselves to the general public. This year you will find us in Fantastic Ideas for 2025 and will you be able to get to know more about our ‘Satellite Eleven’ concept.

On June 28th we are present for Open Office Day. Come and have a peak behind the scenes and inner workings of our office along with other young businesses from the region.

And, last but not least, during this week we will be announcing the winner of our business cards contest: ‘your ticket to creativity’.

Our candle holder onoff, which we designed for Oxygene, has been nominated for Red Dot 2012. Onoff already took gold at the Decooh! fair in Brussels so we cross our fingers for the big Red Dot award.

Onoff is nominated in the tableware and decoration category. The award ceremony takes place towards the end of March.

Another year has passed. To finish it correctly, we want to wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Whatever may happen in this exciting year, we have prepared ourselves. Contact us to receive your very own blueprints to create an ufo for the upcoming doomsday.

Helbig café takes places twice a year and elevenfeet will be present on this latest edition. Together with Helbig we will be presenting three new concepts for accessory displays. These concepts will display things such as bracelets, sun glasses, beads, hairbands and more at shops. Prototypes of the cylindrical wall, rotational wall and easy concept will be on display and visitors of the Helbig café will be able to comment.

As usual, elevenfeet will be present at the annual Week of Design in Kortrijk. This time around we are lucky to not have one but two stands with one being the eye-catcher of the entire exhibition. We got the chance to build a wooden rabbit of 6.5 meters high. The rabbit is made up out of 43 pallets and 1321 nails.

The demand for the huge rabbit came out some graphic work we did last year.

Our second stand is located inside and it shows our most recent creative and fun creation. You are all welcome from the 22nd until to 26th of June 2011!

During the “science weeks” of Habbekrats we organized a cool and educative workshop in collaboration with Triangle Factory. The purpose of this afternoon was to let kids get acquainted with creativity and design in a free and playful way.

The various groups were able to design their own key chain and print it in 3D, while others got to know the different steps in a design process by building a bridge out of spaghetti. The last workshop took the youngsters into the world of gaming where they could use their own body to give shape to a virtual 3D character.

The Interieur Biennale is back in town and this issue we couldn’t miss!

Elevenfeet was present at the international IF festival. At a workshop organized by timelab of Ghent we had the opportunity to work with different groups to assemble a Makerbot 3D printer. In two days’ time we assembled (with Koen Coppens, Dries De Proft and Miel Wellens) the whole kit twice, one for ourselves and one for the Industrial Design Center of the University College of West Flanders.

This means that from now elevenfeet has its own 3D printer that we hope to use in many projects in order to satisfy our clients even more.

During the opening event of the annual car fair in Brussels elevenfeet was asked to make a creative redesign of the Nissan Cube. The Cube car is a non-symmetric car which makes it pretty special.  Together with students of Howest and Artesis we took on the challenge while the Belgian press got their first glimpse

of the new Japanese car.

Commissioned by Young Designers United each team had to rethink one half of the car and prototype it out of huge blocks of foam. In a six hour time period we created a brand new look for the Cube that was a bit more adapted to urban life.

The Week of Design 2009 can be viewed as the official and professional kick-off of elevenfeet. Our graduation products were on display for everyone to see. The feedback and input we received from the public and companies convinced us to go ahead with our design office.
